‘Swing High provides this play approach to counselling for children with the use of Child Centred Play Therapy (CCPT) and Synergetic Play Therapy (SPT). CCPT is a systematic and evidence-based approach that has been in use for over 60 years and has a long history of efficacy in therapeutic work with children. SPT combines the therapeutic powers of play with nervous-system regulation, interpersonal neurobiology, attachment, mindfulness and therapist authenticity.’
Did you know that if your child is aged 3 to 12 years they do not have the words to let you know what’s troubling them?
As adults we use a lot of words to explain to others what’s upsetting us. It comes so easily. We know when we need help and how to ask for it. Sometimes your child may be overwhelmed by the changes and pressures in her daily life. Extreme behaviour can be a symptom of your child’s underlying confusion and difficulty in trying to manage. Children between the age of 3 and 12 years have not yet developed the language to be able to fully express emotions and difficulties.
Counselling for your child when she can’t explain what’s happening
We help your child explain her difficulties with a tool your child will naturally have … ’play’. This is not the same ‘play’ that is seen in the playground. This is a form of counselling especially for your child with a professionally trained counsellor. Just as you can use your own natural language as a tool in the counselling session, your child will be able to use her own natural communication skills.
The counsellor is trained to work with your child so that she will feel safe and comfortable. Through this trusting relationship your child will be able to share her experiences and feelings. In time behaviours that your child was unable to control will decrease and your child will develop more positive attitudes.
